Problems with Flashcom, a national DSL service provider
This is a copy of a brief complaint filed with the Federal Trade Commission via electronic form at http://www.ftc.gov/complaint.htm Date: Tue, 12 Jan 1999 02:45:00 -0800 (PST) [From] Ed Anderson [addr] San Francisco, CA 94110 [phone] [email] Re: Computers/Internet Services Flashcom, Inc. 7540 Suzi Lane Westminster, CA 92683 http://www.flashcom.com President: Brad Sachs bsachs@@-DESPAM-@@flashcom.com (877) 352-7426 x205 Contacted via: Internet web site. Company asked me to pay: $671+ I have paid: $1008+ Paid by Telephone bill and Visa card. Company Representative: Brad Sachs First contact: 10/98 (Scott Cambell) I signed a one year contract in with Flashcom for a 384k ADSL internet feed to be added to my residential phone line. Installed in November after several delays. In December, the company notified me that they were changing my CLEC from PacBell to a competitor, at the same fee. I now discover that the new service will run at 192k, half of the speed I'm paying for. 384k is available, but it costs more. They told me to, "Take it or leave it. (click)" In addition, my phone bill has been on APS payment, and I noticed large debits to my bank account. They have changed my phone billing address so I no longer get a phone bill, and I am being "crammed" with duplicate installation and monthly charges via my phone bill. I pay for the Flashcom service with a Visa debit card so am being billed twice monthly. Pacbell can't touch them, nor the CA PUC who says they are unregulated. The salesperson at Flashcom was Scott Cambell, the President is Brad Sachs. Their Accounting dept won't return my voicemail, and the President hung up the phone on me. I plan on taking this public. I'll add documents at my own web site: http://www.pinch.com/flashcom/ Please cc me a copy of this complaint. Thanks for your help. Regards, Ed Anderson [email] Displayed using a script by Ed Anderson
